California QSO Party 2017

CQP Portable operation from |
The California
QSO Party is an event wherein Radio
Amateurs activate all California counties
for the
purpose of ensuring radio readiness in the event of disasters;
natural or otherwise.
Of all the
state QSO parties, CQP is by far the largest, best organized and most fun.
Essentially,
the CQP event is a world-wide contest - one of the reasons it is such
a popular event.
In 2016, Ron (WQ6X) operated from a cabin in Twain Harte California (in Tuolumne county) setting a county record. My main operating goal was to set another county record for Contra Costa county. (As K6U, N6GEO & WQ6X set a Multi-Low record for CCOS.)
For 2017, CQP
ran from 9:00 am PDT (16:00 UTC) on Saturday October 7th to 3:00 pm
(22:00 UTC) on Sunday October 8th.

WQ6X ran Single-OP from W7AYT's QTH in Concord, Ca., implementing a number of experimental antenna configurations for this event, as well as some new receive audio ideas. This was a fully functional SO2V operation.
California
stations count each of the 50 states and 8 Canadian provinces as
multiplers.
There were
practice events on Friday evening starting with 20 meters at 7:15pm,
